Privacy policy of the app
Last updated: 15 October 2026
The app has no account, no tracking, no advertising and no analytics tools. It only sends what it needs to show you the tides.
1. Who publishes the app
The app (MaréeFrance, TideNow, MareaHoy, MareaOggi or MaréHoje depending on your language) is published by MF Econsulting, the seller shown on the App Store and Google Play. It exists for iPhone and Android; this policy covers both.
2. What the app uses
- Your location, only when you tap “Use my location”. It is rounded to about 1 km and sent to our server to find the nearest places. It is not saved in any database: it only appears in the server’s technical logs, which are deleted after 4 days at most. It is never used in the background.
- Your chosen place, favourites and settings stay on your phone only.
- Tide and weather requests send the place identifier, the app language and version. Our server keeps technical logs (including the IP address) for security, for 4 days at most.
- The “Contact us” form sends your message, your email if you give one, the app version and the place shown. They are used only to answer you and kept for as long as needed to handle your request.
- Purchases are handled by Apple (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). On iPhone, to check a Premium subscription, our server receives the purchase proof signed by Apple (transaction number, product, expiry date). On Android, the subscription is checked by Google Play on your phone and our server receives nothing. Neither contains your name or email.
- The “Enjoying the app?” window sends your answer, the message you may write and simple counters kept on your phone (for example how many times the window was shown), so that it is not shown too often. No identifier is sent.
- Spring tide alerts are computed and scheduled on your phone. No notification server is used.
3. Sharing
We do not sell or share your data. Our servers are hosted by OVH in France (European Union).
4. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access or delete your data at any time with the “Contact us” form in the app’s Settings. You can also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority (CNIL, cnil.fr).
5. Children
The app is suitable for everyone and does not knowingly collect data from children.
6. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its date.
