Tide Times in Vendée

Vendée offers a varied coastline of 250 km between Noirmoutier and the Bay of Aiguillon. The 4 to 5 metre tidal range drives the rhythm of fishing ports, family beaches, and oyster marshes. The famous Passage du Gois, a 4.5 km submersible road linking the mainland to the island of Noirmoutier, is the most spectacular symbol of the tides' hold on this territory.

Les Sables-d'Olonne, the departure port for the Vendée Globe — the world's greatest solo sailing race — and the Île d'Yeu, a wild gem offshore, are premier Atlantic sailing destinations. Tides dictate access to lock-gated ports, surfing conditions on the Vendée corniche, and shore fishing on the rocky foreshores of Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie and Saint-Jean-de-Monts.
